The American Security Council Foundation (ASCF) was formed in 1958, and it was originally known as the Institute for American Strategy. For almost 50 years the Foundation has focused on a wide range of educational programs which address critical challenges to U.S. foreign policy, national security and the global economy. By "Promoting Peace through Strength”® the Foundation addresses critical challenges to U.S. foreign policy, national security, economic security and moral leadership of the United States of America.
AUSA is a private, non-profit educational organization that supports America's Army - Active, National Guard, Reserve, Civilians, Retirees, Government Civilians, Wounded Warriors, Veterans, and family members. AUSA provides numerous Professional Development Opportunities at a variety of events both local and national. AUSA has 125 chapters worldwide, serving as the liaison between the Army and local civilian communities, to help educate the public about the needs for a strong National Defense.
The Army Black Knights football program represents the United States Military Academy. The football team plays its home games at Michie Stadium. Cadets' attendance is mandatory at football games and the Corps stands for the duration of the game. At all home games, one of the four regiments marches onto the field in formation before the team takes the field and leads the crowd in traditional Army cheers.
The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is a high school football all-star game held in early January in San Antonio, Texas. Currently played in the Alamo Dome, the game brings 90 of the nation's top high school football players in an East versus West matchup. The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is the longest-running active High School All-American game. Former players include NFL All Pros Tim Tebow, Adrian Peterson and Reggie Bush.
The Army Ten-Miler is America's largest ten-mile race, held every October in Washington DC and sponsored by the U.S. Army Military District of Washington. The race draws a large number of civilian and military running teams. Now in its 28th year, the Army Ten Miler Registration fees and sponsor contributions go to support the Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs on installations all over the United States, Europe and Asia.
The Exchange or Army & Air Force Exchange Service, is an agency of the U.S. Department of Defense. Its dual missions are to provide quality merchandise and services to authorized customers at low prices and to generate reasonable earnings to support the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs. Roughly 67% of the Exchange earnings are paid to MWR programs and approximately 31% of Exchange associates are military family members.
The United States Air Force Marathon is an annual event held on the Saturday closest to the birthday of the United States Air Force, September 18th, 1947, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio which is also home to the National Museum of the United States Air Force. Established in 1997, the marathon includes a half marathon, 10K, wheelchair race and a four-person relay.
The DoD Joint Service Open House Andrews Air Show is the largest event hosted by Joint Base Andrews each year. This event offers the opportunity for the general public to see, first hand, what the United States Armed Forces are doing to protect their freedom. Joint Base Andrews is widely known for serving as the home base of Air Force One, the two Boeing VC-25A aircraft that serve the President of the United States of America.
The Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) is an annual marathon held in Arlington, Virginia and Washington, DC. The mission of the MCM is to promote physical fitness, generate community goodwill and showcase the organizational skills of the U.S. Marine Corps. The MCM was established in 1976 and is currently the 5th largest marathon in the U.S. and the 9th largest in the world. The race typically occurs on the final Sunday in October, a few weeks before the United States Marine Corps birthday on November 10th, 1775.
Marine Week is a celebration of community, country and Corps. It provides the unique experience to directly connect the American public and Marines with the opportunity to climb aboard Corps’ aircraft and ground equipment, witness Marine Corps martial arts demonstrations or engage in clinics with Marine Corps sports teams. The week will culminate with a simulated full-scale combat demonstration, highlighting the unique capabilities they use to fight our country’s battles in the air, on land and at sea.
